Position:                    SUMMER FEEDING PROGRAM

                                    Temporary Rural Outreach Coordinator/Cook  

This will be our first year of our rural outreach program, initially we will be joined by local community partners whose volunteers will help facilitate the distribution at feeding sites. This position will require an individual who can motivate volunteers in a positive and caring manner, while maintaining the professional standards required of a federally run program. A clean driving record is required. Shelby Public Schools has applied for a grant to fund this program, hiring for this position is subject to grant approval.         

Qualifications:          

·          High school diploma or GED (minimum)

·          Ability to lift and move pans/cases weighing up to 55 pounds

·          Ability to use basic math

·          Ability to operate and maintain kitchen equipment

·          Ability to work under pressure

·          Ability to work and communicate well with people

·          Ability to project a positive outlook, manner, and good hygiene

·          Ability and willingness to learn new tasks

·          Ability to withstand temperature extremes

·          Ability to use work simplification skills

·          Knowledge and experience in the area of institutional food preparation

·          Knowledge and experience in inventory                                  

Duties (including, but not limited to):                            

·          Prepare home cooked food on site

·          Prepare milk order, monitor dates on milk, rotate as needed, and keep milk coolers clean

·          Assist with washing pots and pans

·          Take care of garbage, break down boxes/cans for dump site

·          Maintain kitchen in clean manner and write up work orders

·          Prepare production sheet

·          Prepare/portion entrees for serving line

·          Assist with washing tables in cafeteria and sweep/mop floors in kitchen

·          Keep Food Service Director updated on kitchen needs

 

Reports to:                Mary Rose Wayer, Food Service Director

 

Terms of Employment:

        • Starting wage of $9.50/hr
        • Dates to be determined
        • 4 hrs. per day
