Position Title: Group Leader, 21st Century Community Learning Center

Department: Aspire Program

Reports To: Site Coordinator

 SUMMARY: The job of Aspire Program - Group Leader is done for the purpose/s of working with individual and/or small groups of students under the supervision of the Aspire Site Coordinator in the supervision and instruction of students to assist in providing a positive learning environment that allows for students’ personal, social, and intellectual development.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned

·         Administers standards of behavior and discipline for the purpose of ensuring the safety and well being of students.

 

·         Assists students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments for the purpose of presenting and/or reinforcing learning concepts.

 

·         Assists students with homework assignments and make-up work, etc. for the purpose of  supporting teachers in the instructional process.

 

·         Assists with program components for the purpose of delivering services that conform to established guidelines.

 

·         Collaborates with the Aspire Site Coordinator for the purpose of implementing and maintaining services and/or programs.

 

·         Communicates program policies and enforcement procedures to students for the purpose of ensuring their understanding and the potential consequences of violation.

 

·         Maintains classroom equipment, work area, student files/records, attendance records, checking homework for the purpose of ensuring availability of items and/or providing reliable information.

 

·         Monitors individual students, classroom, library, recreational activities, etc. for the purpose of ensuring a safe and positive learning environment.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Ability to maintain confidentiality of student information. Must have or be willing to be trained in First Aid and CPR for school age children (certification). Ability to follow written and oral instructions and school age childcare guidelines. Working knowledge of effective methods of managing, caring and promoting positive behaviors with children. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignments. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; ability to communicate with school personnel, students, and parents while complying with the confidentiality requirements in local, state, and federal policies and statutes.

Aspire Program Job Description

Position Title: Teacher, 21st Century Community Learning Center

SUMMARY:

Employee must be a certified teacher. Qualities of teachers in the Aspire Program include: motivational, fun, helpful, reliable, flexible, positive, interested in working with at risk students, able to make a smooth transition from regular school day,

encouraging but not demanding, easily adapts to new situations, able to handle

student conflicts.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned

·         Reports to your assigned group promptly. If there are prior commitments,

meetings, etc., let the Site Coordinator know ahead of time. If you are late,

you should note the time on the sign-in sheet.

 

·         Tutors and gives assistance to assigned group of students by providing

help with homework and lessons.

 

·         Teaches and implements lessons using curriculum materials while utilizing disguised learning techniques. 

 

·         Writes lesson plans, including applicable standards, for each day you

teach and for an activity rotation.

 

·         Records attendance, behavior and participation of all assigned students.

 

·         Is available to supervise students during the activity periods.  Activities will

vary and your direct participation may be required.

 

·         Assists Site Coordinator with program evaluations, student progress and

other information as needed.

 

·         Performs other duties deemed necessary by the Site Coordinator during the

hours of operation.

 

·         Attends weekly site level staff meetings, monthly all-staff meeting and professional development opportunities.
