Food Service Cook Position, Part time

Qualifications:    

·         High school diploma or GED (minimum)

·         Ability to lift and move pans/cases weighing up to 55 pounds

·         Ability to use basic math

·         Ability to carry food to classrooms, this will involve walking up and down stairs

·         Ability to operate and maintain kitchen equipment

·         Ability to work under pressure

·         Ability to work and communicate well with people

·         Ability to project a positive outlook, manner, and good hygiene

·         Ability and willingness to learn new tasks

·         Ability to withstand temperature extremes

·         Ability to conduct self in professional manner when dealing with challenges

·         Ability to communicate directly with Food Service Director

·         Ability to use work simplification skills

·         Knowledge and experience in the area of institutional food preparation

·         Knowledge and experience in inventory                                               

Duties (including, but not limited to):                          

·         Prepare home cooked food on site

·         Prepare milk order, monitor dates on milk, rotate as needed, and keep milk coolers clean

·         Prepare a Gordon Foods order for products weekly

·         Assist with putting away Gordon Foods stock

·         Assist with washing pots and pans

·         Take care of garbage, break down boxes/cans for dump site

·         Maintain kitchen in clean manner and write up work orders

·         Prepare production sheet and run computer at lunch time

·         Prepare/portion entrees for serving line

·         Assist with washing tables in cafeteria and sweep/mop floors in kitchen

·         Keep Food Service Director updated on kitchen needs

·         Conduct self professionally as an example to colleagues

·         Assist Head Cook with main entrée preparation on a biweekly basis

·         Work a rotational schedule on a biweekly basis

·         Take direction from Head Cook when needed

Terms of Employment:

        • 2 ½ hours per day 2pm to 4.30pm
